Sunday March 30, 2014 – We as Christians need to understand that we are to intentionally build bridges across ethnic lines. God directs His children to never judge on outward appearance and have a heart of Christ for every race.

It’s going to have to take some supernatural spirit of God among the races to realize we need to be one and our culture needs to be very unique. – Pastor Dwayne Terry

The Ethnic Bridge

The Bridges of God, Part 01

How close would you allow someone from another race? Circle your answer:

Same Country, Same State, Same Town, Same Neighborhood, Same Church, Same Family, Bless a Marriage to your Child, Same Marriage

People often identify with their ethnic group before their Christianity.

Numbers 12:1, 2, 10 – Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the LORD heard this. … 10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous—it became as white as snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease

Numbers 25:1, 3-4 – While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women … 3 So Israel yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor. And the LORD’s anger burned against them. 4 The LORD said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the LORD, so that the LORD’s fierce anger may turn away from Israel.”

Crossing the Bridge

 Assume that the natural thing is to judge based on the outward appearance.

1 Samuel 16:7 – But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

 Believe that what you say in private reveals a lot about your heart. Luke 6:45 – …For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
 Be a Christian first.

Romans 2:28-29 – A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.

Galatians 3:28-29 – 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

 Intentionally build meaningful relationships across ethnic lines.

Jeremiah 17:9 – The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
