Sunday December 08, 2013 – Jesus’ birth brings us so many things. Things like new life, salvation, miracles and beauty. He also brings new challenges for us to face daily, but believing in His grace and mercy in those trials is what is needed to get through them.

No matter what difficulty you are facing today, it’s the things that we can see that we have the hard time believing for. The things we can’t see, like heaven, those are the things we can easily believe. – Pastor Dwayne Terry

The Birth Announcement

Luke 1:26-30 – In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to
Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.” 28“The angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.’” 29“Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.” 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.

What Jesus’ Birth Brings  Jesus brings new life and new challenges.

Luke 1:31 – You will be with child and give birth to a son…

 Jesus brings salvation to every area of life.

Luke 1:31b – …and you are to give him the name Jesus.

Matthew 1:21 – “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins”

1 Timothy 1:15 – “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst.”

1 John 3:8 – The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

 Jesus brings sovereign rule.

Luke 1:32-33 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”

Hebrews 1:2-3 – “…Appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”

Revelation 4:2 – Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.

 Jesus brings holiness and beauty.

Luke 1:34-35 – “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

 Jesus brings the miraculous.
Luke 1:37 – For nothing is impossible with God.”

Ephesians 1:13-14 – When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession…

How We Should Respond
Luke 1:38 – “I am the Lord’s servant…May it be to me as you said.”

  •   Servanthood.
  •   Obedience.Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God– this is your true and proper worship.
