In the first installment of “Shut Your Mouth” series, Pastor Dwayne looks at Jesus as he talks of careless words in Matthew chapter 12. He uses the passage to deal with several issues including that your words reveal the condition of your heart.
Shut Your Mouth, Part 01
Philippians 2:14-15 – 14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe
Your words reveal the condition of your heart.
Matthew 12:34-37- You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
From a negative heart overflows negative words, which generally become negative actions, resulting in a miserable life.
Proverbs 21:19 (NLT) – 19It is better to live alone in the desert than with a crabby, complaining wife.
