Sunday May 10, 2015 –James 1:14 – But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. James 1:15 – Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; James 1:15b – … and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 – reject every kind of evil. Ephesians 4:27 – and do not give the devil a foothold.

The spiral downward when it comes to sin is when you look at something too much, you begin to approve of it, and you act on it. Redemption is God uses prayers to change lives, and God can use sin to bring about His purpose. –Dwayne Terry

The Spiral Downward

 You look at something too much.

Acts 7:58 – [They] dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.

James 1:14 – But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

 You begin to approve of it.
Acts 8:1 – And Saul approved of their killing him.
James 1:15 – Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin;

 You act on it.

Acts 8:1-3 – …On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. 2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. 3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.

James 1:15b – … and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 – reject every kind of evil.
Ephesians 4:27 – and do not give the devil a foothold.

Redemption

 God uses prayers to change lives.
Acts 7:60 – Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.

 God can use sin to bring about His purpose.
Acts 8:4 – Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.

Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
