In the first installment of the “Game Plan” series, Pastor Dwayne and Derrick looks at how you are created to be like Jesus, the shepherd and the warrior, in John chapter 10. He uses the passage to deal with several issues including characteristics of a shepherd and warrior of Christ.

Ezekiel 22:30 – I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.

You Are Created To Be Like Jesus, The Shepherd.

John 10:14 – I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.

 A shepherd leads courageously.
John 10:3b-4 – (The Shepherd) calls his own sheep by name and

leads them out…his sheep follow him because they know his voice.

 A shepherd protects bravely.

1 Samuel 17:34-35 – David said…”When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.”

 A shepherd loves sacrificially.
John 10:11 – I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays

down his life for the sheep.

You Are Created To Be Like Jesus, The Warrior.

Matthew 10:34; 38 – I did not come to bring peace, but a sword…and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Exodus 15:3 – The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name.  A warrior is under authority.

Romans 13:1-2 – Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established…Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

 A warrior rejects passivity.

Revelation 3:15-16 – I know… you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm…I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
