In the first installment of the “Destined” series, Pastor Dwayne looks at Paul discussing how Christians are predestined in Ephesians chapter 1. He uses the passage to deal with several issues including to know Jesus better.

People of Destiny

Destined, Part 01

 Everyone arrives somewhere. Christians arrive at a predetermined destiny.

Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

The Destiny of a Christian

1) Christians are predestined.

Ephesians 1:4-5a, 11 – For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will… 11In him we were also chosen, having been predestined…

Proorizō [prah-ah-rē’-zō] – to predetermine, to appoint something or decide beforehand

2) Christians are guided by God’s Spirit inside them.

Ephesians 1:13b-14 – …Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance…

Arrabōn [är-rä-bō’n] – deposit, money given as a pledge or down payment that the full amount will be paid…

How To Know Your Destiny

1. Know Jesus better.

Ephesians 1:17-19 – I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

I will seek to know Jesus today to experience His life tomorrow in a way I cannot experience today.

2. Know the hope to which he has called you.

Ephesians 1:18 – I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints

 I will seek to know my destiny today to experience it tomorrow in a way I cannot experience today.

3) Know His incomparably great power.
Ephesians 1:19 – 19and his incomparably great power for us who

believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength…

 I will do today what God’s Spirit wants to do through me to be tomorrow where I could never be without Him.
