Moms Encounter God’s Grace

  • Jochebed: when you give up control, God remains in control.

Exodus 2:1 – “ Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman.”

Exodus 2:9–10 – “ So the woman took the baby and nursed him. When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’ s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, ‘ I drew him out of the water.’”

Proverbs 3:5–6 – “ Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Isaiah 55:8–9 – “‘ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘ As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’”

  • The Widow from Zarephath: when you have doubts, you must still obey.

1 Kings 17:12-14, 24 – “ As surely as the LORD your God lives, I don’ t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die” 13“ Don’ t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first makea small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘ The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain on the land.’” 24 “ Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth.”

Philippians 4:19 – “ And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

  • Bathsheba: when your circumstances look ugly and hopeless, God shows up.

Romans 8:28 – “ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Genesis 50:20 – “ You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives”

What A Mother Needs

  • The grace of Jesus redeems life.

2 Corinthians 12:9 – “ But he said to me, ‘ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’ s power may rest on me”
