Sunday Aug 3rd, 2014 – Although Evolution is widely taught in our society as to how life came about, it cannot bring man significance. The Bible, however, teaches that man is significant and is made in the image of God. We are covered by Jesus’ image and made new and meaningful in Him.
I know there is a lot of you, you’ve been raise in church. But you’ve allowed a lot of things in the media, things where you thought you could make yourself happy, that philosophy of the the world to impact what you think about yourself and what you think about God. I want to challenge you today: put on Christ. That’s the only way to find the true significance in life that you are looking for. – Dwayne Terry

Psalms 8:3-4 – When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is mankind that you are mindful
of them, human beings that you care for them?
• The bible teaches that man is significant.
Psalms 139:14 – I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalms 8:5-8 – You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: 7 all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, 8 the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
Genesis 2:4-7 – This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the LORD God made the earth and the heavens. 5 Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, 6 but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. 7 Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Isaiah 43:7 – everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.
Restoring God’s Image
• The image of God had been distorted because of the condition of sin.
Romans 5:12 – Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned–
• Jesus is the image of God.
2 Corinthians 4:4 – …the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Colossians 1:15 – The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
• God can wrap us in the image of Jesus.
Galatians 3:27 – for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
• Evolution cannot bring us significance.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
