Sunday June 2, 2013 – Jesus instructs us to love our neighbors, regardless of how different they are from us. Part of being a Christian is living a missional lifestyle and having a passion to love and disciple people who do not know Christ, even those that are nothing like us.

Jesus has called us to love people that are not like us. He’s called us to love people who don’t look like us, act like us, speak like us, think like us, do like us. That’s when you start to see the love of God and not our love. – Pastor Dwayne Terry

Love Thy Neighbor

Mission Possible, Part 01

Our Call To Make Disciples

Missional Living is a missionary lifestyle. It is living a life that intentionally targets and disciples others with the Gospel.

Matthew 28:19-20 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

 Converts are fun and quick. It’s difficult and time-consuming to make a disciple.

Matthew 23:15 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.

 A disciple desires to obey God’s Word and it is reflected in their actions long-term.

1 John 4:20 – Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

The Power of Love

 The passion for missional living comes from God’s unconditional love.

Matthew 5:44, 46 – But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, … 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

o Ask God for His love.

Matthew 22:37-39 – Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

o Ask God for love for a specific person who does not know Christ.  The test of missional living is patience.
1 Corinthians 13:4 – Love is patient…
