Sunday March 16, 2014 – God requires from us sacrifice to have an intimate relationship with Him. Sacrifice of self, of your worship and ministry, is necessary to focus your attention on Christ.
When people say I just don’t feel like it, that’s the very time that you need to sing to the Lord. That’s the very time you need to say God I love you, I praise you Lord…because there’s something about that place of intimacy with God where you connect with Him. It’s not about how you feel. Matthew 16:24 – Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
God requires a sacrifice of self.
Nehemiah 11:1 – Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.
God requires a sacrifice for ministry.
Nehemiah 11:2 – The people commended all who volunteered to live in
Hebrews 13:16 – And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
God requires a sacrifice of worship.
Nehemiah 12:27 – At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from where they lived and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps and lyres.
Hebrews 13:15 – Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
Nehemiah 12:43 – “The sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away.”
