Sunday June 16, 2013 – God has given the responsibility to Fathers of being the protector, the head of the home and a shelter for their family. A father’s character should be one that points his family toward God.
If you want a house that serves the Lord, that’s on solid ground, you have to surrender your life, the way you do things, to the Lord Jesus Christ. – Pastor Dwayne Terry
Going Camping For Father’s Day
Father’s Day 2013
1 Timothy 3:4-5 – He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)
Ephesians 5:23 – For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
You must depend on God and His ways.
Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) – There is a way that seems right to a
man, But its end is the way of death.
You must be a servant in the home.
Luke 22:25-26 – Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.
Ephesians 5:24-25 – Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
You must cultivate and expect honor.
Ephesians 6:2-3 – “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3“that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
o The Process: Obedience becomes willing submission which becomes honor.
You must not allow your emotions to rule your home.
Ephesians 6:4 – Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
You must point your family to God.
Joshua 24:15 – But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
