Matthew 12:46, 48-50 ESV – While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. … 48 But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
- To moms with difficult children – don’t give up.
Luke 2:46-52 ESV – After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

John 2:4-5, 12 ESV – And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 12 After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

John 19:25-27 ESV – but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.
Psalm 34:18 ESV – The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Psalm 147:3 ESV – He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 68:6 NIV – God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
