Sunday April 28, 2013 – We may see ourselves as less than or insignificant, but God loves us unconditionally. His love covers our sins and makes us significant.

It is not your life that makes God’s love significant…it is God’s love that makes you significant. – Pastor Dwayne Terry

God Is Love

Spring Series, Part 01

Why Would God Love Someone

 As bad as me?
Job 42:5-6 – My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.

Therefore I despise myself…

1 Corinthians 15:9 – For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

 So insignificant?
Exodus 3:11 – But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to

Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

1 Chronicles 29:14 (NLT) – But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you?

The Reason

1 John 4:8-10 – …God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

What God’s Love Does

 It defines you.
1 John 4:19 – We love because he first loved us.

o Display this truth. o Trust this truth.

 It covers your sins.
1 Peter 4:8 – …love covers over a multitude of sins.

Titus 3:4-5 – But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.

 It makes you significant.
Jeremiah 31:3 – I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn

you with loving-kindness.

John 3:16 – For God so loved _________________ that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 8:38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
