In the first installment of “God’s Plan for 2012” series, Pastor Dwayne looks at Jesus teaching of coming to rest with the Father and being yoked with Christ in Matthew chapter 11. He uses the passage to deal with several issues including putting Jesus first in everything.

Developing Goals

God’s Plan for 2012, Part 01

Proverbs 29:18 (NASB) – Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law.

Matthew 11:28-30 – 28″Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Kopiaō [kah-pee-ah’-o] – to grow weary, tired, exhausted with toil or burdens or grief

Phortizō [far-teed’-zo] – to load one with a burden of animals, vessels, rites and unwarranted precepts

God’s Plan

God’s plan is for you to be yoked with Christ.

Craig Groeschel, “Are you putting your whole faith in God but still living as if everything is up to you? If so, you are a Christian Atheist.”

God’s plan is for you to put Jesus FIRST in everything.

Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

 God’s plan is for you to have a light burden. o Be a disciplined follower.
o Narrow down what God wants you to do.

Proverbs 16:9 – In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
