Sunday August 12, 2012 – In the second installment of the “The Voice” series, Pastor Dwayne looks at worship and having pain in your life in Psalm chapter 38. He uses the passage to deal with several issues including when we focus on God we find strength.

There’s a strength waiting on you, if you’re willing to turn to Jesus Christ. That’s not my promise, that’s just who God is. It’s just His character and His nature. Beauty for ashes. – Pastor Dwayne Terry

The Dark “Night” Rises

The Voice, Part 02
Psalm 38:17 – For I am about to fall, and my pain is ever with me.

When We Focus on Circumstances

 We compare and blame.
Psalm 73:3 – For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Psalm 73:12 – This is what the wicked are like–always carefree, they increase in wealth.
 We pity ourselves.
Psalm 73:13 – Surely in vain have I kept my heart pure; in vain have I washed my hands in innocence.

When We Focus on God
Psalm 73:16-17a – When I tried to understand all this, it was oppressive to

me 17till I entered the sanctuary of God;
Job 1:20-21 – At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.”
 We find understanding in God’s Presence.
Psalm 73:17b – …then I understood their final destiny.
Psalm 89:8 – O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
 We find hope in God’s Presence.
Psalm 73:23-24 – Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. 24You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.  We find strength in God’s Presence.
Psalm 73:26, 28 – My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. … 28But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
