Galatians 5:1 ESV – For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
- Surrender everything to God.
Joshua 5:13-14a ESV – When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” 14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come.”
- Get a Word from God.
Joshua 5:13-14b ESV – And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?”
Psalm 46:10 ESV – “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
- Obey God’s unconventional
Joshua 6:3-5 ESV – You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days. 4 Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 And when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, then all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, everyone straight before him.”
Colossians 3:13 ESV – bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Ephesians 5:21 ESV – submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Philippians 4:19 ESV – And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
- Guard God’s Presence.
Joshua 6:6-7 ESV – So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD.” 7 And he said to the people, “Go forward. March around the city and let the armed men pass on before the ark of the LORD.” … 9 The armed men were walking before the priests who were blowing the trumpets, and the rear guard was walking after the ark, while the trumpets blew continually.
- Guard your heart.
Proverbs 4:23 ESV – Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

- Don’t quit.
Galatians 6:9 ESV – And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Joshua 6:16, 20 ESV – And at the seventh time, when the priests had blown the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city. … 20 So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.
