About WEstgate church

  • THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD.

    – 2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 2:13

God’s Word is the only completely reliable and truthful authority. We accept the Bible as our manual for living. Our first question when faced with a decision is, “What does the Bible say?” We practice daily Bible reading and Bible study. The Bible is the basis for all we believe.

JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD.

    – John 14:6, Acts 4:11-12

Jesus Christ, second Person of the Trinity, lived a sinless life on Earth and voluntarily paid for our sins by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplished salvation for all those who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between God and us. He baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit and will return to Earth to consummate history.

    YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN.

    – 2 Corinthians 5:17, Matthew 16:25

Every person is born with a condition that separates us from God. This condition is known as “sin.” As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation comes only through God’s grace, not human effort. He must be received personally by repentance and faith. In the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Only believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.

BELIEVERS CAN BE SPIRIT-FILLED AND SPIRIT-LED.

    – Acts 1:8, Ephesians 5:18, Luke 11:13

We believe the only way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us. Every believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit by simply asking. We seek to practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right.

    WHO WE ARE

Westgate is a non denominational church in Powder Springs, Georgia. We are a church for all people. We are a church that believes in both discipleship and evangelism. We value learning God’s word through expository teaching, while helping you apply the scriptures with practical next steps. We believe worship can be emotional but it is ultimately shaped by scripture. We are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church with a big focus on family. Our vision is so all people experience Christ.

    WHO WE AREN’T

We aren’t legalistic, unfriendly or angry. We don’t handle snakes and we don’t preach the health and wealth “gospel”. We aren’t stiff and uptight but we aren’t a side-show either. With all that being said, we do have our own set of problems and baggage… we aren’t perfect, no church is. So, the best we can do is focus on Jesus and do our best to fulfill the mission He has called us to.

    WHO IS WELCOME HERE

We are a church for all people. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you will be welcomed at Westgate. Whether you are looking for a new church family, have questions about the Christian faith, or are a skeptic or a critic of the church… our doors are open to you. Don’t wait until you get your life straight before you visit us, we want you to come just the way you are.

  • Pete has a growing family. He & his wife Saxon have two sons Canyon and Hawks and a daughter Sequoyah, andson named Hawks.

We are fortunate to have Pete serving on staff at Westgate. His desire is to share with others about the grace and truth of Jesus.

Growing up locally, Pete grew up attending Trinity Chapel in Powder Springs with his parents and two sisters. Pete’s parents were diligent in their commitment to raising him as a Christian and to this day, Pete has a great relationship with his parents. Following graduation from McEachern High, he determined he was called to serve in ministry and began seeking opportunities to follow that calling. Serving for over two years at Trinity Chapel in an internship role led to a position as youth pastor and assistant worship director at Seven Springs for over two years. Before coming to Westgate, he also completed a year on staff as the youth pastor and worship pastor at Harvest Cathedral in Macon.

Please find an opportunity to introduce yourself to Pete. While he can be the life of the party in large groups, he truly looks forward to the chance to develop one-on-one relationships with others!
